On September 23, 2011 Campus Security Officer Mike Denver worked the 3PM-11PM shift. After leaving work he traveled down State Route 213 to his residence in Cecilton, Maryland. As he got near the Bohemia River he observed what at first glance appeared to be a traffic accident. It turned out that it was not an accident, but was a disabled person who was out of gasoline. Mike realizing that there are no gas stations in the immediate area chose to go get this person enough gas to get him to the new Royal Farms store in Cecilton. Mike followed the person to assure that he safely made it to the gas station. After doing this the person seeing his uniform identifying him as a security officer at Union Hospital wanted to reward him with cash. Mike refused to take anything and told him he was happy he was able to assist him at his time of need and continued home.
